You Are in a Toxic Environment, but You Didn’t Realize It ..

How are you right now?

You might feel stressed right now and still be forcing yourself to keep working despite how tired you are right now.

You might feel undervalued by people around you, even though you have tried a lot for your own improvement and for those around you. You tried to motivate people around you and help them get better. Despite that, you still didn’t see any progress and found it reversing what you wanted to achieve.

You might feel like nobody wants to acknowledge your achievement, and they would rather talk about you from behind in order to drag you down.

The discomfort and tiredness you felt every time made you think, Am I in the right environment, or am I just pushing myself until I reach the limit?

Be aware of your environment

Working hard and not complaining is great.

It is actually something most people lack sometimes, but it is not the reason for all of your discomfort. You might feel discomfort because you didn’t get any recognition from other people, even just for a little bit. What I mean by that is not that you are seeking validation; it’s just that they know what you do but don’t want to acknowledge it.

You tried to bring about what you did, which is important in working, but you just found yourself becoming the most arrogant person in the room for the work you have done.

People become irritated with your work and how you talk about it. Then they just don’t want to acknowledge you. You need to be aware because sometimes not all problems that we have are because we didn’t do the right thing.



Sometimes, we have done the right thing, but people drag us down and blame us for all their own mistakes.

Being aware of it is important because if you don’t realize it, you might keep blaming yourself or other people.

Then you feel stressed and tired at the end.

There is somewhere I want to be

You might be imagining somewhere else or a place that you remember where you feel peaceful and happy.

You might think that you want to leave where you are right now and believe that somewhere else is better than the place you are right now.

Well, that might be a sign for you because our bodies can tell us when we are actually not in the right condition.

I remember when I was working positively in my organization. I just keep on bringing results and hoping that the program that I was working on is going well. Even so, at the end, I feel more tired and stressed about it.

I don’t feel like I have made any progress with my work.

Then, I start questioning, “What’s wrong with me?” I keep asking what I did wrong, and then eventually I feel stressed about it.

I don’t know what I need to do, and I keep on working and working and burning out at the end.

So, what’s the problem, actually?

Then I realized I might be in the wrong environment.

The major reason for that is that I can keep working in a positive mood while writing and working on my articles, which are not related to my organization, while in my organization I feel like working by myself, and all pressure is on me to handle in my organization.

I thought I was complaining too much and wasn’t giving positive value to other people.

Then I realized I was in the wrong environment.

How to deal with toxic environment

Then, I think about what I can do to move out of this organization or this place.

I kept on planning and planning, but I found myself not taking any action with it.

So, I take another approach where you might learn from it too:

1. Acknowledge your environment.

Is it really toxic, where you feel undervalued and disrespected a lot and no one wants to acknowledge your work even a little bit, or are you just stuck in negative thoughts?

2. Find a place where you think you will become comfortable working and test it.

If you find it true that you feel comfortable working there, then you can put it in your research bucket to decide whether to resign from where you are right now.

3. Start by taking a small step towards the place that you want to be.

You can start by finishing your responsibilities where you are right now so that you can move out easily.

You can start by researching your new environment to make sure that you are really comfortable working there.

You live once in this world, and your time is the most valuable asset that you have.

If you keep on working where you don’t want to be and you find yourself capable and comfortable working somewhere else, go for it! Don’t limit yourself by being afraid of what other people will think or how they will hate you for what you have chosen for yourself!

They might dislike your choice, but at the end, you are the one who lives your own life.
