Some faiths teach about judgment, where the deceased is held accountable for their actions on earth, and those who led a life of cruelty or deceit may face consequences. These consequences might be seen as punishment or purification, a form of atonement for the wrongdoing they committed. Statements like, "May they face judgment," or "A higher power will hold them accountable," reflect this belief in a system of cosmic justice or divine retribution.
When news of someone’s death spreads, the first reaction often reflects a judgment or summary of that person's life.
