🌅 India Rising
Rajani roamed Club Ember, whistling like the wind on a cold winter night. Her white dress moved with her gracefully as she glided in the crowd.
Clubs were the perfect places to find what she was looking for. Men. They were all pigs. Disgusting animals, showing their true nature in the face of temptation.
Like a wish coming true. There he was. A drunk man harassing a woman at the wall. His hand was next to her head, his body blocking her way out. Her arms were crossed, shoulders slumped, her eyes staring at the floor. Clearly not into the guy. But he kept trying, kept telling his lame lines. And soon, he’d take action. He’d cheat on his wife or girlfriend, leaving the poor woman devastated. Heart broken.
The woman was saved by one of her friends, but Rajani had her eyes on the man. Now she just needed to find someone to aid her.
Someone attractive, drunk enough to blame the memory loss on the alcohol and a player.
Rajani didn’t have to look for long. A woman in a night-blue dress with wavy brown hair caught her eyes. She was dancing with three men, clearly enjoying the attention. She was the perfect candidate for the night.
Rajani glided closer and into the woman’s body. With her mind already weakened by alcohol, it didn’t take long for Rajani to take control and leave the men dancing alone. This body had someone else to lure into a trap.
He was at the bar. A bit cloudy, but still mesmerizing brown eyes seized up Rajani as she took place next to him. She smiled, playful, seductive.
“Hello, Beautiful.” The man leaned closer, his beer breath cutting through the air. “I’m Luke.”
Rajani fluttered her eyelashes. “Lizy.” She smiled and laced her fingers with his. “Dance with me.”
It took no effort to get him on the dancefloor. His body pressed against hers. Rajani circled her hips, rubbing against his groin.
“Single?” she asked.
A smile that told her everything she wanted crossed his lips. “For you, baby, I am.”
Oh, yes, her intuition was right again. Another bastard willing to cheat on his woman. He was just another pig, waiting to be slaughtered. But just like livestock, he needed to be lulled before the inevitable.
A few more drinks, a few more dances, stolen kisses, and they were out in the back alley. Luke’s hands roamed her body and Elizabeth played along, turning her disgust into passion. Thankfully, the body enjoyed what he was doing, so faking her reactions wasn’t too hard. How could she be wet from these violating touches and kisses? Well, she’d picked a slut for a reason.
“And your girlfriend?” she asked, breathless.
“She’ll never know,” he muttered. “Unless you want a threesome. But I’d rather keep you to myself.”
And there it was. The confirmation she needed. Not that his hard on wasn’t obvious enough, but she needed to hear the words.Rajani drilled her nails into his shoulders, yanking him closer. Surprise and fear glittered in his eyes as she pressed her lips against his. At the pain, Luke's senses sharpened and he shoved at her, grabbed her wrists, and tried to get free.
His lame attempts to push her away were sweet. Even if Luke managed to get the woman’s body away, he couldn’t touch her. He was hers.
She sucked the air out of his lungs. She wasn’t the first he cheated with. Just one in a long line of secret lovers over the course of his life. She sucked it all out: his past relationships, his past lovers, his past conquests. And with all that: his soul.
A muffled cry of despair left him before he dropped dead on the dirty pavement.
Rajani grinned and exited the woman’s body. She collapsed next to Luke, alive and without memories of what had happened.
A man exited the club and rushed to the woman, pressing his fingers into her neck to find a pulse. He only glanced at the man, shaking his head.
“I’m too late,” he muttered as he stood and looked straight at Rajani.
Not past her, not next to her. Right into her eyes.
“Rajani das, I, Shiva Flint, am here to cast you from this plain.”
Rajani snorted. “You’re one of them. The oracles I keep hearing whispers about.” She tilted her head. “You’re just as sinful as the rest of them.”
A golden glow formed at the man’s hand and she launched forward, pressing her lips to his, kissing him with all the rage she’d gathered over the years. This oracle was just another man. Another pig. She’d eat his sin, drain his life, and drop him dead too.
She jolted back as electricity zigzagged through her being. “It can’t be.”
This man was loyal. Or, more likely, had been. He’d suffered a great loss, but even before that, he’d been faithful.
A sad smile crossed his lips. “It can.”
You’re just like him. All men are like him!”
Shiva shook his head. “Not all men cheat. Just like not all women commit suicide, and become murderous ghosts.”
The glow returned to his hands. “Rajani das, I cast you out.” The glow increased at his hands. “I cast you out of this plain and into the abyss.”
She shook her head no, tears flowing down her cheek. Was that relief she was feeling? Was she about to leave this plain? But she had so much more work to do. She needed to free all the women from cheating bastards. Even in this city, there were hundreds of them.
A glowing circle opened, and instead of warmth and peace, all she felt were ice-cold dread and whispers. This couldn’t be it. This couldn’t be the end for her. All the women who needed her help would be left alone.
The circle pulled her closer, and the whispers became louder. The screams of men she’d killed. It echoed in her heart and mind, but she couldn’t move her legs to get away.
“No!”
“You chose your own fate,” Shiva said.
The circle sucked her in. The screams and moans of the dead tore into her essence as she spiraled into darkness.
