How happy are you? Do you enjoy your normal days? Do you like what you do? Most people aren’t very happy, but today that changes.

I believe that finding joy and fulfillment in your day-to-day life isn’t very difficult. It’s mostly about attention. When you are fully present, you see more, and you enjoy more. It’s about doing things you like and realizing you are doing things you like.

Presence

The first rule for finding joy is presence. You must be present and aware of what you are doing. It’s only when you are truly present that you will realize and appreciate that beautiful tree outside. If you are just a sleep-deprived zombie, your life won’t be much fun.

We’ve all had to answer the question “What did you eat last night?” a lot of times, and we have to think about that. If we were present and actually enjoying the meal, it wouldn’t have taken more than a second to remember it.

How to become present

It’s not that hard. Practice meditation to clear up your mind.

Do it every day. Try to start visualizing your future or next day (only positive things) in your mind daily. And lastly, change your self-image. “Don’t say, “I’m trying to become a present person.” Instead, say, “I’m a present person.” Make sure that you have some kind of affirmation like this that you say daily.”

Live a life you love.

Cut out the things you don’t like to do as much as possible (unless they’re healthy habits). Stop seeing those friends that make you feel bad or make you do things that you usually don’t end up liking. Start doing new hobbies you’ve always wanted to do. Learn new things in which you are interested. Improve your personality and how you interact with others.

Remember what Steve Jobs said: “I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
