🌅 India Rising
The real part of the note is like this is the hypocrisy. As you state quite correctly, feminism was formerly framed around female empowerment to do whatever (yes, whatever) they liked.
Your observations about grid girls and “No More Page 3" are illuminating. But consider for a second the hypocrisy.
It was feminists who were responsible for ‘slut walks’ in response to so-called rape culture. The idea that women should have control over what they do with their bodies, and who they do those things with or for) is something we should all support — irrespective of how ridiculous their methods were.
All of a sudden, though, the girls who make money from their bodies are somehow being portrayed as victims of an oppressive patriarchy.
This movement is simple to explain — intrasexual competition. The feminists involved in the grid girl furore are supportive of (physically uncompetitive) women having “body confidence”, but not for those with a level of societally-approved attractiveness that makes them competitive on the commercial market.
This is jealousy — plain and simple.
