Elon Musk has always been someone I admire.
I remembered when I watched him talk about his work ethic, which is 100 hours per week. I tried that before and never achieved it, even once. I just work for 30 or even 40 hours per week, but I never achieve those 100 hours per week.
I plan to work hard, but sometimes I work on something uneffectively. Then I found this video, which helped me figure out how to improve myself and become successful, according to the number one richest man himself.
Here are five pieces of advice for young people with actionable guides:
1. Learn something new every day.
I always thought this would be important, but I never took action to really learn something new consistently.
Learning something new every day helps us to know something outside of what we know and outside of our comfort zone or familiarity. Sometimes, I just learn something that I would know or probably know, but here, you need to learn something that feels new to you. Maybe you know about coding but don’t know about designing.
Then give it a try, because you never know until you try it, right?
Actionable Guide:
(Small steps) Spend 5 to 25 minutes learning something new every day.
Build the habit of it by being specific,
For example, “Learning something new for 25 minutes every morning while drinking my coffee.”
2. Learn a little bit of what you already know.
We sometimes feel like masters of what we have learned, never trying to improve it or finding it false in our work.
So, learning consistently about what we already know gives us some missing pieces that we never knew were missing.
Actionable Guide:
Spend 5–25 minutes learning what you already know and evaluating yourself every day.
Build the habit of it by being specific:
For example, “Improving my own skill for 25 minutes every morning after I learn something new.”
3. Read many books and broadly
You can choose three books from different genres. For example: sci-fi, biography, and self-improvement.
Start by reading every morning or every night for 5 minutes.
If you can consistently do that every day, increase it by 5 minutes until you achieve the amount you want.
4. Socialize with other professions and skills.
This is the key to fastening your knowledge.
Ask your friend, family, or other workers in your profession about what their interest or hobbies, and ask them questions.
Find what you can learn from it (there will always be something to learn from other people) and then implement it in your profession or skills.
5. Avoid a zero-sum mindset.
