One of the greatest scientists in history, Albert Einstein (1879–1955), spent a significant portion of his life working toward a unifying theory. He spent a lot of his life trying to come up with one big theory that could explain everything — like how gravity, electricity, and other forces all fit together. He was hoping to find one simple idea that could explain everything in the universe.
He pursued an intellectual quest for a complete theory that could cover the whole domain of the natural world, motivated by his strong confidence in the unity of phenomena of nature.
His strong stance was shown in his 1923 Nobel talk, where he said, “The intellect in pursuit of an integrated theory cannot find solace in accepting the existence of two separate fields that are inherently independent of each other.”“In his waning years, Albert Einstein spent his time tilting at windmills, trying to unify all the forces of nature,” stated the article published in Live Science.
