🌅 India Rising

It’s the side of Buddhism no one told you about.

When we picture the most committed followers of the Buddha’s teachings, monks come to mind. Doubled down and cross legged, the search for enlightenment looks as dry and intense as can be.

It might even appear daunting that the truth of suffering is the starting point for the Buddha’s path.

Fearing the intensity of this perspective, we often take the ‘Buddhism’ out of ‘mindfulness.’

But something changes when you stop to read about the Buddha and his spiritual family, the sangha.

When you look at the paintings & sculptures of them, they’re always blissed out.

Every single figure carries the aura of a deep fulfillment beyond words.

The cause for this magnitude of contentment is simple: inconceivably good vibes — or a discovery beyond the realm of vibration itself.

But how can just one person’s insight produce such a gigantic, massive wave of well-being for so many people across cultures and millennia? What does it actually take to become the source of this degree of goodness?

The answer lies in one of the most optimistic and colorful archetypes for human life ever known: the Bodhisattva.

The Path of Greatness

In Sanskrit, bodhi means awakening or wisdom. Sattva refers to a being.

A Bodhisattva is someone who is committed to becoming a Buddha using the most fool-proof method conceivable: building enough virtue, wisdom, and compassion to the level where not becoming a Buddha becomes impossible.

They practice the Mahayana path (maha = great, yana = vehicle) whereby they dedicate all their merit & positive karma for the benefit of all sentient life.
